VICTORIAN WOODEN HORSE TRICYCLE
This is a finely carved wooden and metal horse with saddle in real hand tooled cowhide leather is from a private collection. The toy museum in Grandate, Italy exhibits a prototype of a similar finesse and quality. This piece is of French manufacture, where in the last part of the 19th century the use of these types of tricycles became very fashionable among aristocratic children, especially after the painter impressionist painter Claude Monet painted a portrait of his daughter Jean on a tricycle horse very much like this one.
